Presentation

Modeling workshop with the abbey potter.

Mermaids, bears, dragons, lions and chimeras...In the Middle Ages, fantastic animals and creatures were very represented. Whether in painting, illumination or sculpture, these animals and creatures embody symbols of Good or Evil. The capitals, modillions and facades of Romanesque churches abound with sculptures representing these symbols. Using examples of Romanesque sculptures from the region (Saint-Etienne de Vaux churches, Notre-Dame de Corme-Écluse, Sainte-Radegonde de Talmont, etc.), children will be encouraged to create their own fantastic creature using hand modeling. help from the potter from Sablonceaux Abbey. The children leave with their achievements.
