What to do during the winter holidays around Royan?
discover the film “The Gold of Time”
From February 19 to 24, we find at Palais Royan Events the screening of the film: “The gold of time is the history of a territory, yours”. This 25-minute film produced by the Royan Atlantique Tourist Office and produced by the DRIPMOON studio is an immersive dive into the history of the Royan region, revealing its natural riches and cultural heritage. A screening will take place every hour from 16 p.m. to 19 p.m.
TAKE A BOW OF FRESH AIR AT THE BEACH
While most are in the mountains, we take advantage of the sea air to recharge the batteries on the Charente Maritime beaches.
Lovers of wide open spaces, we have the Wild side just us at this time of year! Only the noise of the elements reasons. We breathe deeply the iodized perfume of the sea spray and the resinous and woody smell of the maritime pines... running, surfing or kite flying on this vast open-air playground.
For a little more adrenaline, head for the Grande Côte in Saint-Palais or the large beach of Saint-Georges to test the yachting, an activity accessible to all!

by an unsuspected nature
In winter, calm reigns in the forest. Time seems to stand still: some animals are hibernating, trees are sleeping… Yet if we listen and open our eyes, we can learn to recognize the songs and footprints of the animals around us. With a bit of luck, you can come across roe deer, deer or wild boar! With its 6 ha, the La Coubre forest massif is huge! To avoid getting lost, take one of the marked hiking trails : from 3 to 7 km, ideal for a family walk between maritime pines and holm oaks.
CROSS THE COAST ACCORDING TO YOUR DESIRES
Few people on the roads, it's the opportunity to discover all the riches of the territory! On the banks of Seudre, we stop at oyster port of La Grève to enjoy a platter ofMarennes-Oléron oysters. In Royan, we walk on the seafront. From the port to the Parc district, we admire the Belle Époque and 50s villas without forgetting a detour to Brive market. From La Palmyre or Saint Palais, you can contemplate the panorama of the Cordouan lighthouse. You will have to come back on sunny days to visit it!
TAKE A RELAXING BREAK
Winter is the perfect time to get into “cocooning” mode and take care of yourself. While it's very cold outside, we go to warm up in the hot tubs of a spa or take advantage of the recognized benefits of water at the thalassotherapy center or at the thermal centre. For absolute relaxation, we even let ourselves be tempted by a massage!
