Patrimoine ferroviaire Train des Mouettes
Come aboard and travel like in the 19th century!
On April 25, 1868, the Compagnie du Chemin de Fer de la Seudre was created, which took years of negotiations, studies, searches for financing and war (1870-1871), before it began operating on August 28, 1875. At the time, it took 1 hour 45 minutes to connect Pons to Royan. On April 8, 1876, the track was completed between Saujon and La Tremblade, the time to complete the stations on the line, and on June 25 of the same year the 10:20 train inaugurated the start of the line!
An exceptional railway heritage!
The Seagull Train has 4 diesel locomotives including one classified as a historic monument as well as two steam locomotives including one classified as a historic monument, then passenger wagons and American wagons (which transported foodstuffs, products or even soldiers during the first war world).
