Phare de Cordouan

Located in the open sea, inhabited year-round by keepers and open to visitors, the Cordouan Lighthouse is an architectural gem designed to glorify the kings of France.

The Cordouan Lighthouse has been guiding sailors at the mouth of the estuary for over 400 years.
You will have to climb 301 steps leading to the lantern before enjoying, suspended between sky and sea, an extraordinary panorama.

It is as a “cultural asset” that the Cordouan lighthouse is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Access to the site is only by boat at low tide and landing times and conditions vary daily.
