Cité de l'Huître

At the heart of the largest oyster refining marsh in Europe, the Cité de l'Huître plunges you into the world of this shellfish, oyster farming, its men and their history through themed huts and animations.
The Cité de l'Huître aims to make people discover the oyster farming environment and the territory of the Charente-Maritime marshes thanks to a space for visits and activities: initiation to the opening of oysters, discovery of oyster farming , bike ride in the marsh, creative workshops for the little ones…
The visit and activities are included in the entrance ticket. In addition, bike rental possible for a 3,5km ride along the Chemin des Claires.

Discover the new film “Entre Terre et Mer” which invites you to fly over the territory of Charente-Maritime for a dive into the heart of the basin and the oyster farming profession. Projection on a giant screen for total immersion.
Enjoy a bike ride and a breath of salty air in one of the largest wetlands in France! Set off to discover, as a family, a natural universe developed by humans since Roman times. 3,5 km loop accessible to all. Helmet available with a protective cap. For children, suitable bicycles and trailers are available.

– Easter and All Saints’ Day school holidays (all areas combined): Every day from 10:30 a.m. to 18 p.m.
– Summer holidays: Every day from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m.
– Outside school holidays: Wednesday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 18 p.m. (closed Monday and Tuesday)
