Let's celebrate summer in the shadow of the Palace. Friday June 14 marks the opening of the summer season for The Palais Royan Events. On this occasion, we unveil the summer program at the Palais during a festive evening.
Launch party on June 14
From 19 p.m., we find DJ 6L20 to liven up the evening until the MOUETTE fanfare takes off at 23 p.m. to dance all evening. Who is the MOUETTE fanfare ? From electro to sax and tec' to trumpet, this is the concept of MOUETTE. Coming from the brass band scene, MOUETTE is a group from La Rochelle inspired by electronic music from the 90s to today. A unique style blend between acoustic brass and techno rhythms for a friendly and energetic atmosphere!
3 highlights not to be missed this season at the Palais
1. The play “Romeo minus Juliet” Saturday June 29
A troupe of 13 actors was to perform “Romeo & Juliet”. But, on the day of the performance, an accident blocks the tour truck in the countryside, with sets and actors on board. Only the director, who also plays the role of Romeo, manages to reach the place by train. Faced with this situation, he decides to perform the play alone and without scenery, for the sake of honor. We witness this human adventure, where the work of one of the greatest authors is defended at all costs, in a captivating love story.
2. Dance courses
Throughout the summer, we participate in dance workshops organized in partnership with a renowned dance school in the region. On the magnificent esplanade of the Palace, garden side, you can learn to dance Cuban salsa and rock/swing. These courses are followed by free dance evenings open to all at the Bar du Palais, with breathtaking views of the sea. Chair-dance cabaret courses, a discipline which combines glamor and femininity, as well as a heels cabaret course are also proposed.
- Salsa course: Saturday July 13
- Chair-dance workshop: Sunday July 21
- Rock stage: Saturday August 3
- Rock swing workshop: Saturday August 17
- Cabaret heels course: Sunday August 25
3. Bring the 50s to the palace on Saturday August 3
We celebrate 70 years of history of the Palais des Congrès de Royan on August 3. For the occasion, we suggest diving back into the fifties for an evening. On the program: an exhibition of vintage cars, a jukebox to hear the hits of this period, rock 'n' roll/swing dance classes to shake your hips like in the Roaring Twenties, as well as emblematic cocktails of this decade where emancipation was in the spotlight. To end the evening in style, what could be better than the Cactus Riders : a rock 'n' roll concert to transport us back in time!
Summer season at the Palais Royan Events
All summer long, Le Palais welcomes many artists in concert to liven up our summer evenings. Every week, we discover new musical talents. Pop, soul, rock, jazz, blues… all styles are in the spotlight. We thus benefit from a wide musical variety for quality concerts.
The Palace is also a place of discovery and exchange. We can see there exhibitions temporary work, attend literary cafés but also participate in oenology workshops to explore wines from our region.
