Mairie de Corme-Écluse
About us
This small, predominantly rural town belongs to the living area of Saujon and to the outskirts of Royan, the main agglomeration and economic center of the surroundings.
Corme-Écluse is famous for its Notre-Dame church (XNUMXth century), the pinnacle of Saintonge Romanesque art, and is home to a few traditional Charente houses as well as a Dominican convent.
Its proximity to the seaside infrastructures of the Côte de Beauté, its preserved environment and the rich heritage of the surroundings (circuit of Romanesque churches, natural sites, etc.) explain the development of tourism, in particular green tourism. Agriculture, crafts and personal and business services are also active sectors.
