Commune located in the heart of the Arvert and Royannais peninsula, in the continental fringe of the Côte de Beauté and on the edge of the famous oyster basin of Marennes-Oléron.
It is also an important oyster farming centre, counting on the presence of two ports, Orivol and Les Grandes Roches.
