Boucle VTC – Ports d'estuaire et côteaux viticoles par Meschers-sur-Gironde
– Les Monards where port activity continues
– Saint-Seurin-d'Uzet, famous for its sturgeon caviar
– Mortagne/Gironde and its port “La rive”. At the end of the quay we find the shipyard “Les pieds au sec” with beautiful naval constructions
This route highlights the nature and environment of this territory. In addition to the vineyards that have made the reputation of Pineau des Charentes and Vins Charentais, you will cross protected nature reserves, where you can see grey herons, little egrets, marsh harriers, shelducks, etc. (the Chenac marsh is a reserve for migratory birds).
Along your way, you will find some little treasures of history, for example:
– a sundial dating from 1833 in Talmont
– a washhouse dug into the stone at the place called Le Caillaud
– A polychrome advertising ceramic from the Coussot flour mill in Saint-Seurin-d'Uzet bears witness to past commercial activity
