Boucle VTC – De la Seudre aux plages et conches rocheuses
You will walk between cereal fields and vineyards towards the Gironde estuary. On your way, it will not be uncommon to discover these architectural monuments of Romanesque art.
From Meschers to La Palmyre, like ghost ships stranded on the coast, the blokhaus still haunt, by the dozens. These concrete monsters, whipped by rolling and submerged by the intermittent tide, still carry the echo of the salvoes of artillery and aerial bombardments which took them as targets in the spring of 1945 during the liberation of Royan.
Along the Forest of La Coubre you will reach La Tremblade, and cross the Seudre either by the bridge or, in July and August, thanks to the ferry boat.
Due to its geographical location, the Bassin de Marennes is an essentially rural area. It is made up of 68% marshes, either soft, suitable for breeding, or salty, where the Marennes-Oléron oysters are matured and must not be missed.
