Boucle VTC (saisonnière) – Rive droite de la Seudre et Côte sableuse
With gentle relief, this route will take you from the Seudre to the Atlantic, passing through the Combots forest. It is made up of pines and holm oaks and is home to several animal species (grasshoppers, cicadas or locusts...).
Your cycling getaway starts at the Train des Mouettes station in Saujon and takes you from Mornac by bike to environments conducive to getting away from it all: from the Seudre to the Atlantic.
At La Palmyre you will head towards La Tremblade by the cycle paths along the ocean and the Coubre Forest.
In summer, you will take the ferry boat, a bucolic means of transport to Cayenne in the Marennes basin. (Or, you will take the Pont de la Seudre: watch out for road traffic).
On the right bank of the Seudre, you will cross the oyster marshes with its internationally renowned oysters. Great discoveries await you:
- the Tour de Broue, vestige of a fortified castle overlooking the former Gulf of Brouage
- the Moulin des Loges, in the heart of the Marais de la Seudre, stands one of the last tide mills in Europe.
In Saujon, you will take the Train des Mouettes, a train from another time, to retrace your steps.
Please note, this route can also be done from Mornac by taking the Train des Mouettes (from April to September) to Saujon!
