Privileged witness to the meeting between the river and the ocean, our territory is at the forefront, for the permanent spectacle offered by the largest estuary in Europe.
Under his influence, rural space and the maritime world come together. The hilly slopes of Gironde, covered with vines and cereals, end on the white cliffs which dominate the river. Further upstream, there are natural marshes, a refuge for wildlife. Along the coast from Royan, you will treat yourself to an architectural stroll: "Belle Epoque" villas with geometric and pure lines from the 50s.
Then you will cross the Suzac forest, a link between the maritime domain and the river domain, and plunge into the heart of Mediterranean-style vegetation where arbutus trees and cork oaks rub shoulders with maritime pines and holm oaks. You will discover superb panoramas of the estuary and the lands where the famous “pineau and cognac” are born but also the local Charentais wines which are beginning to make a name for themselves.
