A listed site, Talmont has retained its plan as a medieval walled town built in 1284 by Edward of England. The Sainte-Radegonde church, raised on the cliff overlooking the estuary, is a jewel of Saintonge Romanesque art. In the old school, a museum presents traditional fishing in the estuary and the history of the Talmont site.
The squares (or fisheries) are part of the coastal landscape of Charente-Maritime. The fisherman lowers and raises this large square net using a winch. It's a game of chance each time the net is hauled in: you can fish for mullet all year round, shad in spring and bass in summer.
Circuit carried out by the Departmental Hiking Committee of Charente-Maritime.
