Balade n°6 – Coteaux de l’estuaire de la Gironde – GRAVEL et VTC

This rather sporty route along its hills (unless you have an electric bike!) takes you through the region's terroir: caviar, vineyards, estuary lambs...

– Chenac owes its renown to Gironde caviar and sturgeon, which were once fished from traditional boats. Its history is told at the Caviar Museum.

– Mortagne-sur-Gironde: The town is unique in that it is divided into two parts: the lower part, with the port, called "La Rive," built at the foot of the cliff. Along your walk, you will see the Hermitage, a partially monolithic troglodytic dwelling carved into the limestone cliff. Priests and volunteers are restoring it to its former glory. The upper part, the old town center, is built on the cliff itself.

– Boutenac-Touvent, for magnificent views of the vineyards and the estuary.

With its dramatic terrain, this route takes you from the vineyards to the estuary. You will be guided along the way by a rich heritage and varied landscapes.

This route follows Route 4 (“The Meschers-sur-Gironde Loop”), Route 3 (“The Canal des 2 Mers”), Route 5 (“Around Mortagne-sur-Gironde”) and Route 6 (“Between the Seudre douce and the Gironde Estuary”).
