Boucle équestre N°2 – Forêt de la Coubre

The paths taken by this central loop are dedicated to riders and allow you to practice horseback riding in complete safety in the flamboyant and remarkable setting of the Coubre Forest.
Between the Atlantic forest and the beaches of the wild coast, this loop ride offers total immersion in the maritime atmospheres of the Arvert peninsula. The sandy soils, passable all year round, offer optimal conditions for uphill hiking. Equestrian halts equipped with attachment bars are available at the starting points (parking along the RD 25 at the level of the forest line n°21 or at the edge of the RD 268 at the level of the line n°33).

The circuit is marked to equestrian standards, the marking marks affixed with paint on the trees are specific to horseback riding (orange color). They indicate the directions to follow or avoid (cross), the horizontal line is a milestone mark giving the route to follow. The marking is carried out in both directions. At the start of the circuits and when crossing large trenches, a green and white sign representing a “foot in the stirrup” indicates more visibly the direction to take.

Riders and hikers ensure that they behave respectfully of nature, existing equipment and other users, in accordance with the forest walker's charter. Courtesy is a guarantee of successful cohabitation and better security.

So practitioners:
– follow the marked paths which constitute the route
– respect forest property (fauna, flora, dunes and soil included)
– do not smoke in the forest
– do not leave any waste on the sites

Access details

4 car parks for unloading horses – direct access to the paths identified on the equestrian trail network: Ronce-les-Bains, line 21 on the D25, Vermont on the D268 and line 42 on the D25. These 4 access areas are equipped with a desk presenting the general mapping of the equestrian trails as well as their location. At each of these 4 access areas or horse stops, 2 lines of attachment bars are also installed in order to best secure the stop at the start, return or stage of the hike.

It is also prudent to consult the tide times in order to access the beach at low tide (+/- 2 hours before and after).

The use of equestrian circuits in the Coubre national forest is strongly discouraged on hunting days, namely every Monday and Thursday (except public holidays) from September 1 of the year N to February 28 of the year N+1 .

Access to the beaches is regulated by municipal decree of the municipality of La Tremblade!
