The Coubre forest massif now covers nearly 8 ha. Its essential role is above all to contain the invasion and the movements of the sands in the peninsula of Arvert. It is the largest national forest in Charente-Maritime.
The species that make it up are essentially maritime pine and holm oak, and to a lesser extent pedunculate oak.
