Night markets, a summer tradition around Royan
On summer evenings in Royan Atlantique, the stands light up: a change of atmosphere after the morning markets. We stroll, we stroll through the aisles of the night markets. We are waiting for the good idea of a souvenir to take home or a gift for the less fortunate who have stayed at home. Your choice: the local product that you won't find elsewhere, the craft creation that catches your eye, the little toy to please...

An idea for a family outing in the middle of the stands
We took advantage of the sun, the sand and also the sea… But what to do after the beach? We go home, we take a shower and an aperitif. But the day is not over. We go out to enjoy what Royan and its surroundings have to offer in the evening. Your choice: a restaurant, a bar, a merry-go-round, a concert or even… a night market!
Both art and terroir, the night markets in Charente-Maritime offer something to please young and old alike: craft creations, jewellery, clothing, toys, sweets, local produce… The most skillful hands in the region have worked all the elements: wood, earth, iron, leather, glass, shells… The merchants hail us from stand to stand. They make us touch, taste, try... We are amazed by our eyes, our ears and also our taste buds! We thus experience moments of meetings and moments of exchange.

Where to find the night markets?
In summer, the seaside resorts even come alive at night. The stands take place by the sea, near the beaches. They are found all over the coast: the Royan night market, Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, La Palmyre, Vaux-sur-Mer, Ronce-les-Bains, Meschers-sur-Gironde. So we take note and prepare our week: there is one almost every evening.
Also inland from Royan, the night markets live according to the entertainment. They accompany the rural festivals that dot the summer evenings in our countryside, such as the Fête du Pineau d'Savings, the Threshing Festival in Semussac… This is an opportunity to discover local and agricultural know-how. Sharing is in the spotlight here between locals and curious visitors.

Mornac-sur-Seudre is lighted up with lights between its halls and its port to host its night market. The stalls take advantage of this to remain open as long as the streets remain lively as for the Talmont-sur-Gironde candle evenings. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere remains intimate. Our “Most Beautiful Villages of France©” remain on a human scale and retain their charm.
Night markets are ultimately everywhere in Royan Atlantique. There is something for everyone. There are also all sizes. They essentially have one thing in common: as soon as you stroll through their aisles, you feel like you're on vacation. Here, summer evenings are not a sign of the end of the day and offer plenty to enjoy before going to bed.
