École Maternelle
The nursery school in Vaux-sur-Mer has three classrooms, a multipurpose room (library, daycare), a rest room for the little ones, a motor skills room and outdoor games developing mobility.
Three primary school teachers supervise the approximately 70 students enrolled each year.
Preschool teachers can rely on the support of ATSEMs (Specialized Territorial Agents for Preschools). They are responsible for assisting teaching staff with the reception, activities, and hygiene of very young children, as well as preparing and cleaning the premises and equipment. Their role also includes meeting the children's needs, enabling them to develop, socialize, and acquire knowledge through activities designed with or without the teacher's guidance.
The municipal team being aware of this important role, each class benefits from the support of an ATSEM while some schools have to share the working time of an ATSEM between several classes.
Located within the main building, the library is a valuable educational resource for preschool and elementary schools. With a collection of over 1,000 items (novels, picture books, comics, encyclopedias, magazines, and newspapers) always available to children and teachers, the library complements the students' learning. Books and reading play a significant role in the curriculum and contribute to the joy of learning.
