between the sweetness of Gironde and Seudre estuaries and the iodized air of the Atlantic, the vineyards of the Royan region benefit from a privileged climate which gives the wine all its characteristics. The wine productions then deploy their supple and fragrant character. Royan Atlantic winegrowers join forces around the event “Cellars from here”to discover the richness of the land and share their passion.
DISCOVERING THE CHARENTAIS VINEYARDS
In the heart of Charente-Maritime, in the extension of the Bordeaux and Cognac vineyards, the Charente vineyard extends over a multifaceted territory, between beaches, marshes and green hillsides. This unique setting gives rise to a varied production:
- IGP “Charentais” wines, wines with a subtle and fruity taste, perfect with oysters, seafood or lamb from the estuary
- AOC Pineau des Charentes – the local specialty – sweet alcohol ideal as an aperitif or in a cocktail
- AOC Cognac, “Good wood” and “Ordinary wood” vintages, to be enjoyed as an aperitif, cocktail or digestif
The winegrowers thus perpetuate an ancestral and sustainable culture of the vine. But more than a know-how, it is a real art de vivre which is expressed here, through the seasons and encounters.
On the lands of Royan Atlantique, wine tourism takes on its full meaning: we stroll between the rows of vines, we push open the doors of family estates, we chat over a drink... Each stage invites us to better understand the richness of the terroir and the commitment of today's winegrowers.
Chais d’ici: the meeting place for wine and local wine lovers
The “Chais d'ici” event allows you to share a friendly moment meeting the local winemakers. We thus discover the different professions and the Charente know-how across the visit of the cellars and vineyards. We also enjoy demonstrations and fun activities. Finally, it is the opportunity to taste and appreciate, in moderation, the range of country wines, Pineau des Charentes and Cognac !

The weekend of June 7 and 8, head to the Royan Atlantic Vineyards for a new edition of “Wine cellars here” ! Guided tours, tastings, meals, entertainment, free concerts…
8 wine estates open their doors to showcase their expertise and products: wines, pineaux, cognacs, etc., all in a warm and festive atmosphere.
