On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the Tremplin de Musiques Actuelles will take place, organized by the City of Vaux-sur-Mer, in close collaboration with the Network of programmers of Musical Revelations in Pays Royannais, the association “Tous au Jus” and the “Rockschool Royan Vaux”.

A true exercise in highlighting regional talent, the springboard for contemporary music organized by the City of Vaux-sur-Mer is rooted in the region's event landscape. Nearly 90 applications were received this year, and six groups were selected.

Programming
In order of appearance on stage – times are indicative, subject to change slightly:

19 p.m.: TILL' (Jazz fusion)
Originally the band formed a trio (guitar, bass, drums) whose original compositions claimed to be stamped with the seal of 70s rock and stoner rock. The arrival of a saxophonist (Hicham) in 2023, however, led the band to expand its compositions by exploring in particular the incredible richness offered by jazz and improvised music. However, the band keeps a constant emphasis on the groove, a central element of their musical identity, pegged to the strings.

This new collaboration allowed the band to enrich its music and establish its uniqueness. The now quartet astonishes with the musical osmosis it produces through the subtle interweaving of captivating melodies and guitar playing (Tom) and complex rhythms (Baudouin and Pierre-Antoine).

19:35 p.m.: MADJAS (world music)
Madjas is the improbable meeting of two personalities, two worlds whose history and geography could have suggested that they would never meet again. That was without counting on their shared attachment to music that brings people together and their thirst to build bridges between cultures. Sywé is from La Rochelle, Thoan is from New Caledonia. Together, through their music and their words, they try to express "the richness of the cultural shock, the History that divides them and that of their meeting".

With lyrics that combine the Drehu and French languages, dressed in a clever mix of kaneka, reggae, folk and French variety music, the duo achieves a unique and touching alchemy, a warm and enthusiastic blend.

20:10 p.m.: JOAO (Pop-rock)
JOAO is a neologism that links joy and water, essential elements in the journey of this young singer-songwriter who grew up in the islands of the Antilles archipelago and now lives on Oléron. In a few years, JOAO had already seduced the audience alone, performing soaring pop ballads with current lyrics. Distinguished by his taste for authentic music and the care taken in his compositions or studio recordings, the artist is now surrounded by Tom Bénard on drums, and Benjamin Gasseling on bass and double bass.

This new collaboration opens up new horizons for him and allows him to offer two stage formats, solo and in a trio. He now takes a fully pop-rock approach, an enveloping melodic universe and a rare voice… all assets to continue to conquer the national scene.

20:45 p.m.: KUBE (alternative rock)
After a first EP "On brûle", and strengthened by notable passages on the emerging scenes of the whole Poitevin territory, KUBE left to crisscross the great west to do what it knows how to do best: to fight with the scene! And without a doubt, the quartet from Poitevin knows how to do it. If the references and the origins are quickly felt (British rock is never far), Kube remains infallibly well anchored in French rock.

The four musicians strive to make each concert a moment of brutal escape. With the insatiable will to give their all, their alternative rock infused with post punk exudes a wild tension that the group enjoys releasing through its dance rhythms and overflowing energy… Almost a trance, like a primary need to abandon oneself to which the audience never remains indifferent!

21:20 p.m.: APE MAN (Soul – Hip-Hop – Funk)
Ape Man is one of those unclassifiable artists. Steeped in rap culture from a very young age, the young man from Bordeaux quickly immersed himself in the demanding exercise of writing, which he was passionate about. It was under the influence of figures such as Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder that singing became his instrument of choice. However, he never stopped exploring other worlds and leading rich and varied musical experiences. He was notably behind the group We Were Animals, which toured the Bordeaux stages and found success, which encouraged him to continue on his path.

Ape Man surprises with the efficiency and musicality of his work. His voice with a resolutely soulful timbre and his chiseled writing harmonize with the catchy melodies that invite you to travel. The Bordeaux native claims a unifying music, capable of bringing together all generations.

21:55 p.m.: ALX (French Pop R&B)
Driven by an overwhelming desire to tell stories, wounds, joys, moments of life through music, ALX began writing and composing as a teenager. Inspired by various cultures and especially by her Spanish origins, the Rochelaise now deploys music turned towards the world whose emotional scope is undeniable.

ALX has been mastering the stage for over 10 years, solo or in a duo. But it was in 2021 that her project truly took off. A first EP "Play" and then musical springboards paved the way for her. The concerts followed one after the other. Today, accompanied by her DJ on stage, she has been refining her performance with the contemporary music venue (SMAC) "La Sirène" in La Rochelle for over a year now. Quietly but surely, ALX is establishing herself in the French musical landscape as a little nugget of Pop R&B.
