Jeudis Musicaux 2025 – The Curious Bards

Le
Église Saint-Romain Rue de la Poste 17600 Saint-Romain-de-Benet
TICKET OFFICE OPENING DATE: THURSDAY JUNE 5, 2025 at 10 a.m.

Alix Boivert (violin, hardingfele, direction) – Colin Heller (violin, nyckelharpa) – Jean-Christophe Morel (cittern) – Sarah Van Oudenhove (viola da gamba) – Ilektra Platiopoulou (mezzo-soprano)
This new program highlights a little-known repertoire; that of the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, etc.). Using new, typical instruments such as the Swedish Nyckelharpa or the Norwegian Hardingfele, The Curious Bards reveal the full richness of a music of magnificent melodic and harmonic singularity, notably influenced by Gaelic culture. These dances and songs, composed in the 17th century, all come from manuscripts that have been little explored until now. A unique, exotic, and intensely fresh program!
