An iconoclastic and genre-crossing artist, Thomas Leleu is one of the few tuba players in the world to pursue an exclusively concert career.
An iconoclastic and genre-crossing artist, Thomas Leleu is one of the few tuba players in the world to pursue an exclusively concert career. Also a producer and composer, he returns with "Outsider," his new project (also recorded on an eponymous album). Ebullient and abundant, the talented artist pays homage through this project to all the music that inspired him and that made him, the child of the classical milieu, passionate about pop, jazz and Latin rhythms... an outsider.
Graduated with a 1st Prize in Tuba from the CNSM in Paris, winner of International Competitions in Germany, South Korea and Luxembourg, he was appointed at the age of 19, Solo Tuba of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Marseille Opera. In 2018, invited to Berlin by Rolando Villazon, he was ZDF/Arte – “Stars von Morgen” (Stars of Tomorrow). In 2019, he was nominated in 3 categories at Opus Klassik in Germany.
Thomas Leleu leads master classes: Juilliard School in New York, Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, Universität der Künste Berlin, Eastman School of Music in Rochester, Indiana University (Bloomington), Tokyo Music College, Carnegie Mellon University (USA), CNSM in Paris, Tokyo university of the arts (Geidai), New England Conservatory in Boston, Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart, Hochshule für Musik Würzburg, Korea National University of Arts, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)…
