A one-man show unlike any other, a feel-good play that invites us to savor the little pleasures of everyday life.
To try and chase away her mother's dark thoughts, a little girl starts listing all the great things that give meaning to existence: Ice cream / bubble wrap / swimming without a swimsuit…This list will accompany her all her life, helping her to grow and build herself.
A show of great humanity that deals with a serious subject with humor and sensitivity, sometimes funny and light, sometimes profound and moving.
Laurence Gray takes the audience on a journey through life in a collective experience. It's a reflection on resilience and the joy of living.
Statement of intent: How to fight chronic depression? Is it hereditary? How to react to a suicidal loved one? How to manage feelings of helplessness? "All the Great Things" doesn't claim to save lives, but it offers this valuable advice to those contemplating suicide: "Don't do it. It will get better someday."
By subtly and joyfully addressing such dark and complex themes as depression and suicide, "Every Brilliant Thing" is like a sweet, tangy treat… it's gentle and tender. It's an ode to life, to the small joys of everyday existence, a luminous path through life. This playlist is a gift for his mother, but also for the audience.
The show is a participatory and interactive one-woman performance. The actress breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to the audience, drawing them into a shared adventure, a reflection on what makes life so precious. They leave with a fierce desire to live and to continue the list.
For the magic to happen, it's essential to create a strong connection with the audience. We want a very natural performance. Laurence will be involved with some audience members and will improvise with them. This will require excellent listening skills and flexibility in her performance. Thanks to her life experiences, as well as her radiant personality, gentleness, and warmth, Laurence will perfectly embody this little girl and create that unique bond with the audience.
