Stefan Zweig's Letter from an Unknown Woman: the unknown woman is a lover, an absolute lover. He is a dandy fueled by whirlwinds and adventures. The true heroine is the letter, the one that escapes from the fevered mind of the unknown woman and is etched into space, words of fire, sweat, and ashes. A letter that takes shape in the feverish and heart-rending notes of the cello, perhaps the only place where they meet. A portrait of the intimate self as Zweig's subtle and fiery pen chiseled them, a dance of the soul, a sensual and burning music.
