Spectacle historique "Le Nouveau Royaume" – Théâtre antique du Fâ
Wednesday, August 05 at 21 a.m.
Musée du Fâ 25 route du Fâ 17120 Barzan
In the 1st century, the Roman Empire extended its influence to the borders of Gaul, and the apparent peace masked deep tensions. In this prosperous territory, Novioregum (?) was the important port of Mediolanum. Yet, order was faltering…
Gaius, the newly appointed governor from Rome, wants to restore imperial authority and quell local disputes. To celebrate his appointment, the patrician elite organize lavish games and festivities in his honor. But behind the applause, personal ambitions and conspiracies are brewing. Among the city's prominent figures is Estelle, the governor's daughter, who struggles against an imposed destiny: betrothed to a wealthy merchant to seal a political alliance, she refuses to submit to this arranged marriage and dares to defy her father and tradition. Her rebellion causes a scandal and threatens the fragile balance of a codified society.
As a clandestine network of brigandage orchestrated by the patricians drains the cities of stone and wheat, and as the starving populace rumbles at the gates of the arenas, Gaius discovers that the province is riddled with corruption, reaching even the heart of its institutions. Torn between his duty of loyalty to Rome, the pressures of the benefactors, and the justice he wishes to deliver to the people, he must choose his side.
Estelle's fate and that of the province become intertwined when, condemned to die in the arena for her disobedience, the young woman sparks a popular uprising. In this tumultuous world of betrayals, conspiracies, and forbidden loves, "The New Kingdom" tells the story of the clash of two worlds: that of a decadent Rome and that of a youth ready to build a new future.
An immersive and breathtaking spectacle where gladiators, spectators, and orators clash, this creation explores timeless themes: freedom, justice, courage, and the price of renewal. On the ruins of a crumbling empire, a generation prepares to write its own legend.
