Jazz In Vaux – Ronsard 58 Quartet

Salle Équinoxe 1 Place Maurice Garnier 17640 Vaux-sur-Mer

A journey into the golden age of 50s Paris, immersed in the vibrant world of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, where swing flirts shamelessly with poetry. Ronsard 58 Quartet revisits Serge Gainsbourg's debut album.

Ronsard 58 is the last track on side A of a vinyl released in 58 entitled Du chant à la une!,
first album by Serge Gainsbourg. The eponymous quartet returns to the founding act of an extraordinary artist, but especially to the first loves of this prolific singer-songwriter. Serge Gainsbourg's first albums, in fact, draw heavily on jazz. And that's what interests the group. On this first opus, the atmosphere is resolutely swing and the syncopated phrasing sounds like bebop. Ronsard 58 Quartet therefore sets the record straight by drawing from the source and dusting off a treasure somewhat eclipsed by later successes.
