Conférence – Picasso, réfugié à Royan en 1939-1940

Thursday July 16 at 15:00 p.m.

Musée 31 avenue de Paris 17200 Royan

By Gérard Dufaud

From August 1939 to September 1940, Pablo Picasso left Paris and went to Royan, where he joined Marie-Thérèse Walter and their daughter Maya. During this turbulent period, his art evolved and underwent a real transformation, influenced by a heavy and unsettling atmosphere. In one year, on the Atlantic coast of the Charente region and the Gironde estuary, the artist added more than 750 works to his oeuvre. This well-researched lecture takes the audience into a little-known period of the artist's life.
