Zaïtek: Radio Royan, April 18, 1945. "Royan liberated! Royan freed! But Royan struck down. Occupied by a pocket of German resistance, the town was besieged and then bombarded by the Allies on January 5 of this year. The assault will be given on April 14 and 15 by French, American and British forces. The city is destroyed, more than 85%".

Zart': A tragic past, anchored in the soul of all Royannais... The z'years following the armistice were devoted to commemoration and reconstruction. A hundred architects imagined, for nearly 20 years, what could be the face of the "New Royan"...
