4 Charentais cocktail recipe ideas for entertaining
The Charente lands offer a rich terroir, conducive to viticulture and the production of a wide range of Charente wines, Pineau and Cognac. Sweet, spicy or woody, their flavors blend perfectly to offer unique and original cocktails.
The recipes we have chosen require few ingredients and equipment. They are also easy to reproduce at home and suitable for any occasion: refreshing and light for summer evenings or more sophisticated to celebrate the Christmas and New Year.
Charentais spritz
FOR 1 GLASS
- 5 cl of Charentais vermouth La Quintinye Vermouth Royal rouge* – Maison Villevert
- 10 cl of Charentais sparkling wine – Domaine de la Chauvillière
- 10 cl of tonic
- 2 slices of orange
- 5 or 6 ice cubes
Pour the Charentais vermouth into a gin glass garnished with ice cubes
Then top with sparkling wine and fresh tonic
Add a slice of orange and stir with a mixing spoon
Finally decorate the glass with the other slice and serve immediately
My personal touch? I add 2 or 3 drops of Angostura bitters to enhance the taste!

La Quintinye Vermouth Royal red
This Charentais vermouth is obtained by flavoring a blend of white wines and red Pineau des Charentes with extracts of 28 plants and spices.
Pineaujito
FOR 1 GLASS
- 8 cl of white Pineau des Charentes – La Maison Cochain
- 6 to 8 fresh mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar or brown sugar
- 6 pieces of lime cut into small pieces
- sparkling water
- crushed ice
- 3 drops of Angostura bitters
Rinse the mint leaves and place them first in a highball glass
Crush them using a pestle then add the sugar and lemon pieces
Fill half the glass with crushed ice
Add next Pineau des Charentes and top up with sparkling water
Finish with drops of Angostura bitters
The secret is to stir the cocktail well with a mixing spoon to enhance the entire aromatic palette.

Charentais tea
FOR 1 GLASS
- 4 cl of Cognac VS* – Domaine de la Chauvillière
- 20 cl of tonic
- 2 or 3 lime slices
- 2 or 3 ice cubes
Verser Cognac in a highball glass
Then add the tonic and lemon slices
Serve chilled, accompanied by a few ice cubes
Cognac VS
Cognac VS or Very Superior is the youngest Cognac (2 years of aging).
It is livelier and fruitier than those in other categories, making it the ideal ally for cocktails.
French Negroni
FOR 1 GLASS
- 5 cl of Nouaison Charentais gin – House Villevert
- 5 cl of Charentais vermouth La Quintinye Vermouth Royal rouge – Maison Villevert
- 1 slice of orange
- 5 or 6 ice cubes
Place the gin and vermouth in an old fashioned glass filled with ice cubes
Squeeze the orange slice to extract the essence then place it in the glass
Serve immediately
