This walk allows you to discover the town of Médis off the beaten track. This route takes you on a journey through the centuries with the opportunity to explore its various buildings and remarkable places. The visit demonstrates all the singularities of the Media countryside and its windmills. Between heritage architecture and natural landscapes, this walk is a great discovery.
Following a first building, the temple was opened to worship in 1861. It has all the attributes of the temples of neighboring towns (Corinthian capitals, oculi and open Bible). Its large reception capacity, compared to that of the church, underlines the importance of the Protestant community.
Take the rue du 4e Zouave, named in 1947 in homage to the regiment which participated in the liberation of the city in 1945.
Step 2: The St-Pierre-ès-Liens church
The church has preserved its tripartite facade from the 1945th century. The bombings of 1946 forced the faithful to continue services in the crypt. It was classified as a Historic Monument in XNUMX.

Step 3: The Pourteau home
This bourgeois house dating from the XNUMXth century, it is made up of a main dwelling articulated around an axial bay around which the other bays are distributed proportionally.
The parapet of the small bridge which borders the ditch at the exit of the house was made with stones from the church then in ruins.
Step 4: The Wood of Holes
The wooded area of the commune is around 200 ha. The most common species are oak, chestnut, elm and hornbeam. This wood is home to an Alexandrian Laurel. Originally from the Mediterranean basin, its presence here is an enigma.
Proceed through the undergrowth until you reach the Motte Luchet dead end and turn right.
Walk along the fields to reach the town.
Step 5: The Girauderie mill
Go back up rue du Colonel Arnaud Beltrame to observe the last mill in the village.
Numerous in the town since the XNUMXth century, today they have all disappeared apart from this one.
